THE CHALLENGE

Café Coffee Day was embarking on coffee as a ‘service and retail’ concept. In 2002 with a 44 profitable Cafes the plan was to expand quickly such that each café is independently profitable. But the team comprises of youngsters, most of whom, were fresh out of college, with little or no experience. Available funds either allow for ‘expansion’ that is acquisition of assets or ‘hiring’ experienced and proven personnel. 

STRATEGY

Crafting a vision to aeract investments into Cafe Coffee Day. Then enable the management to empower the young guns at Coffee Day. The program imparted skills and an entrepreneurial ‘attitude’. The Strategy Program helped the senior management, investors and partners to visualise and formulate a ‘white paper’. There was increased clarity and confidence. More than anything, now, they knew what they were trying to do. The Coaching Program with the senior leaders and managers enabled them to drive business aswell as develop themselves to be

RESULTS

Within 15 months - 91% or Café were profitable and independent. Coffee Day achieved the target of 1000 Cafes. Three new business divisions also began as innovations - Fresh & Ground - that connected coffee growers to ‘home brewers’.

 

Coffee Vending Machines (the only company to manufacture the machine itself), and food engineering (packed sachet based solutions).
